Venture Blog Post #1

Hi there everybody! My friend, Seth Robertson, and I started this business. I will be doing most of the social media side of things with Noyes geaR. I have dreamed for years about starting a business where I could help people. We are in the very beginning stages right now, but we are excited to do this. As soon as we get farther into the development process we will be releasing some pieces of outdoor gear, hence our name Noyes geaR.

I guess while we are still in the beginning of this post and I just mentioned our name, I’ll explain the unique grammar we use in our name. Noyes is obviously my name, but one of my best friends, Seth Robertson started this company with me, and to honor his involvement in the company we decided to capitalize the R instead of the G in “gear”.

This seemed appropriate with March coming to and end. It also puts a unique perspective on our motto of "Dare to Venture!"

Seth Robertson and I met while we were both attending Snow College in Ephraim, Utah. We became close friends quickly, bonding over our shared love of the outdoors, and of music. While rooming together for two semesters at Snow, I told him about some of the plans that I had for different outdoor gear ideas that I had. I am studying Business, and Seth is in Engineering. We didn’t decide to team up until we both transferred to Utah State University where we are both currently studying. We are excited to use our own strengths and talents to make the business thrive and help as many people as we can in as many different ways that we can!

Our current plans are to help you all get to know us as much as we can before we start releasing our products. We are determined that when we start releasing products, they need to be tested and ready to rise to any task that you may use them for. To do this, we will be doing our own outdoor testing of the different pieces of outdoor gear. We will also be giving it to some of our favorite and most avid adventurers to ensure that when we start releasing our equipment for sale we will be able to safely guarantee that it is ready for any adventure. Before we expect anyone who do any kind of business with us, we want you all to trust that we legitimately care about your experiences with us and our gear.

I will be doing blog posts every other week. I hope to not only help you get to know us, but also to inspire you, and hopefully make you laugh. I will be interviewing people who I know and meet who inspire me. There will be business owners, adventurers, and other genuinely awesome people with awesome stories to tell. Not every post will have an interview. Other posts will have tips for hiking and other outdoor activities with various age groups, while in other posts we will recommend hikes or rock climbing destinations and give you all the info you need to have a successful trip!"

I will finally explain our business motto a bit more, “Dare to Venture.” From when we very first started talking about doing this I knew that I wanted an awesome motto or catchphrase that encapsulated the underlying message behind everything that we do. I think that “Dare to Venture” does that perfectly. I LOVE doing a huge variety of outdoor activities, and I have always been glad that I did after I learned something new. This does not only apply to outdoor adventures. I will elaborate more on this later, but daring to venture can be daring to put the work into learning to play a new instrument, chasing a college degree that you have always wanted, trying the climbing route that you haven’t been able to make it up yet, or even attempting a new food recipe that seems a bit harder than you have here to for attempted! No matter the goal you have, Dare to Venture!
